CONNECTION BETWEEN AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES
There is close connection between agriculture and natural resources.
Consider that:
- in the market, goods from agriculture and natural resources are known as commodities.
- products from agriculture and natural resources are referred to as primary products.
Examples of commodities or primary products are cocoa, palm oil, rubber, garlic, ginger, banana, yam, cassava, crude oil, natural gas, gold, copper, silver, diamond, etc.
for some resources, there is production from natural resources and there is also production from agriculture. A clear example of this is: catching fish from the river and farming fish.
All these show close connection between agriculture and natural resources. In fact, agriculture is human beings growing plants and animals that used to be available only naturally.
Today, humans plant trees, and have even extended to farming animals like grass cutter, snail, etc and fishes like catfish, tilapia, in addition to the domestic animals that have been reared for many centuries.
